Huskin's Cooperative Program

Fall 2010 Health Sciences Huskin’s Cooperative Program planning is underway at Wake Technical Community College.  The Huskin’s Cooperative Program provides enrichment opportunities for high school students by enrolling in courses not otherwise available to them.  The college is continuing its commitment to provide all Wake County High School students with access to Health Sciences Programs by this unique educational opportunity. Your students are allowed to attend select classes on our campus at no tuition cost to the students or your institution!

  

Current Health Sciences course offerings:

  • Dental Assisting/Dental Hygiene - Dental Infection/Hazard Control - DEN 111 and a NEW class DEN 100, Basic Orofacial Anatomy
  • Nursing Assistant I - NAS 101
  • Medical Assisting –Orientation to Medical Assisting - MED 110
  • Emergency Medical Technician-Basic - EMS 110 (Fall entry only)
  • Medical Laboratory Technology –Introduction to MLT - MLT 110

The Registration and Orientation process:

  • High School representatives must preregister students for the Orientation by contacting Laura Saparilas with the name of the students and the specific course they intend to register. In addition, for seating purposes, we ask that each high school provide an overall number (including counselors, CDC's, students, and parents) attending the session.   
  • Participating students must attend the orientation session on April 8, 2010.  During the orientation, students will be given specific information on enrollment and their field of study.  The orientation session will be held from 3:30-5:00 pm at the Health Sciences Campus in the Health Education Building (HEB) Student Lounge.
  • Participating students will submit their completed registration documents (Wake Tech Application for Admissions & Dual Enrollment Forms) at the Orientation Session. Please provide your students with a copy of the "Student Directions" document in this packet for completing these forms. 
  • Representatives of each college department will be available at the orientation session for students and CDC/high school teachers’ questions.

All courses are taught on the Health Sciences Campus and Spring Semester classes will begin the week of January 25th.

Be sure to pre-register for the orientation. Please feel free to contact the program’s department chair at any time with questions regarding any of our programs.

Important Notice: Students who park on campus are required to have a parking decal and are charged and responsible for paying for the $5.00 Campus Access Fee each semester. In order to park on campus, students will be required to show their Wake Tech Huskin’s Student ID.
