Huskins Health Sciences Program
Fall 2009 Allied Health Huskins Bill Program planning is underway at Wake Technical Community College. The Huskins Bill provides enrichment opportunities for high school students by enrolling in courses not otherwise available to them. The college is continuing its commitment to provide all Wake County High School students with access to Allied Health Programs by this unique educational opportunity. Your students are allowed to attend select classes on our campus at no tuition cost to the students or your institution! Please share this invitation with them!
Current Allied Health course offerings:
- Dental Assisting/Dental Hygiene - Dental Infection/Hazard Control - DEN 111
- Nursing Assistant I - NAS 101
- Medical Assisting –Orientation to Medical Assisting - MED 110
- Emergency Medical Technician-Basic - EMS 110 (Fall entry only)

The Registration and Orientation process is now streamlined:
- High School representatives document interested students and call the specific college departmental contacts to pre-register them.
- Participating students must attend an orientation session on either April 22 or 23, 2009. Due to limited enrollment space, students who are interested in Nursing Assistant or Medical Assisting are encouraged to attend the April 22 orientation in order to have the best opportunity to secure registration. During the orientation, students will be given specific information on their field of study and enrollment. Both orientation sessions will be held from 3:30-5:00 pm at the Health Sciences Campus in the Health Sciences Building (HS), Room 113.
-
Registration documents are completed at this meeting and are not sent directly to Wake Tech at a later date. Please note that students will be required to indicate their social security number on the admission paperwork therefore, it is required that students bring their social security number with them to orientation.
- Representatives of each college department will be available at this orientation, on the dates indicated, for students and high school teachers’ questions.
